Zenergie is an extension of Jennie and Hess’s (the owners) own lives. It reflects a commitment to a quality of life, and lifestyle.

     Looking at them from a Western perspective they are modern, with Eastern influences like the doors, the beds and the furniture. Inside they are spacious enough but cosy and snug. Space has been used with thought but not ostentatiously.

     The buildings themselves have an empathy with their surroundings and their environment and they seek to blend with both. At the same time they reflect the historical continuity of corrugated iron as the architectural stereotype of Australian rural life.

     The buildings also reflect the present day concern with the environment and there is more on this below.

     When seen from an Eastern view point the buildings have been inspired by the philosophy of Yin Yang and Chinese Feng Shui.

     The concept of Yin and Yang is one of balance. All things are defined or understood by their opposites. Hence we cannot comprehend sadness unless we know happiness, know day if we did not know night, love if we had not experienced hate. And, if one of these defining concepts overpowers the other then there is disharmony as when a person only expects happiness, or love, or food or whatever ALL the time.

     Hence, within the context of Zenergie we have the extensive openness to the South balanced with the closed in feeling of the garden to the north, or the extensive views from the main window and the microcosm of life presented in the courtyard through another window.

      Feng Shui is about energy and controlling that energy to maximise our own personal well being. Most people accept the idea of an energy running through us and that things can occur to upset that flow within us. Hence treatments like acupuncture.

     Feng Shui maintains there is also an energy flowing around us and they call it Ch’i.

     Zenergie has endeavoured to optimise the Feng Shui and to optimise the good fortune and well being that flows from that. Therefore, paths wind like rivers (where rivers carry the Ch’i), and the embankment behind the villas sit like the tortoise to bring protection. Colours represent the five elements and are set against one another to bring balance while simultaneously activating and energising.

     Zenergie is balanced energy.
 

OUR GREEN CREDENTIALS   HOW GREEN IS ZENERGIE?  Partly the answer to this lays with you…..as do ALL our environmental intentions. ‘Green’ begins with the action of each individual. Below are the foundations we have laid for your stay to be green; HEATING/COOLING, Window location has been set up to HEAT or KEEP COOL your villa. Use of blinds and window openings give the occupant a wide control over the temperature within the villa. For instance, the North facing clerestory windows are heat collectors in winter, but when the blinds are closed in summer they stop heating. There is also the Trombe wall on Villas 2 & 3 which are solar heat collectors warming your villa free of charge! The courtyard is another passive heating and insulating feature.  (nb But relax, there is a reverse cycle air unit in each villa to back up the above.) WATER; Zenergie depends on RAIN to provide you with water. We can store 60,000 litres for your use. The gardens are not watered and, if they were, it would be from our dams. We are very conscious of the importance of rain and water, and hope our guests respect this imperative. HOT WATER; Zenergie has opted for the HEAT PUMP alternative for its hot water. These are so efficient that they came to us free thanks to government rebates. Each of the units outside Villa 2 can turn 130 litres of cold water to hot water in ONE hour when the outside temperature is 20 degrees Celsius using 1.68KW. SEWERAGE/WASTE; Our sewerage system utilises earthworms to transform waste to nutrient for our paddocks. Even your kitchen organic waste will be added. The grass beyond your window owes something to all our guests!
